Had Mower for 5 Years!
Posted by: Brian L. from Dayton, OH on 03/11/2015

Good Mower Needs long lasting Improvements! I bought the CE6 in 2009 when moving into my new home. so I have used it for 5 seasons consistently and my review is based on long term usage. That being said the mower has handles well over the years and buying the 3 year extended warranty helped when the handle area began cracking and the screw post separated from the plastic. The company sent me a new handle with no charge because it was under the warranty. I Highly recommend this! The replacement handle was good however I decided to use Gorilla tape to keep the handle plastic parts together. The problem is i the design of the handle where the metal stops at the plastic top handles and over time the plastic can't handle the stress. Battery life is good for the first year then begins to trickled down and not hold a charge well even if charged periodically over the fall and winter months. This is very frustrating as the batteries aren't cheap. I wish they had a lithium ion replacement to help with these issues. Another problem I have been having is with the wheels, they wobble because of the lack of metal or ball bearings and a lock-nut to secure the wheels. The wheels are held be a press fit washer thingy that slowly slides away from the wheel causing the plastic wheel bearing to not be as tight anymore. A big problem for longtime use. Folding the unit could be simpler with quick release handles as apposed to the twisting type. The good things I like about the mower are the ease of changing and sharpening the blades. The on board toolkit with room to store the sharpening tool. The attachment port for the edger, a great addition that does a great job! However connecting and disconnecting can be difficult and cause the metal contacts to bend and break off. But still a great feature! The bag attachment is also supper simple to attach and dismount. Just remove the plug and place the bag in the back. Customer service is good, however they need a warranty on the batteries because of the cost! Mine lasted 5 years and I'm looking at getting another lawn mower all together because I can't justify buying another led acid battery when lithium ion is the way to go. Lithium Ion + a Brushless Motor, Ball Bearing Wheels with lock-nuts,and a durable handle would make me consider the Neuton again.

An unexpected Surprise of a lawnmower
Posted by: gabriel v. from oklahoma city, OK on 03/01/2015

To be honest, I had low expectations when I purchased this battery powered lawnmower. We had downsized our home when moving to OKC and did not want to deal with gas/oil products in our smaller garage. (from 5 br 3 car garage with a work-shop to a 3 bd 2 car garage.) The CE6 has been functioning for 4 years issue free. I will have to purchase a new battery this year, 2015, because one of the originals is (I purchased two and rotate) not keeping a full charge. Needless to say, I love my CE6 and use it weekly throughout the mowing season. This is one of the best products I've ever purchased and have received a great value/performance for its good price and simplicity.

Very easy to use and just as powerful as my gas powered lawn mower. I really like the one lever adjustment for height of cut. It mulches leaves very well. It made it easy to clean up the leaves this Fall. The only complaint is the blade is easily nicked and doesn't seem very sturdy. I am very satisfied with this mower.

Old dawg '09 Neuton CE6 just won't quit!

I purchased my first neuton C6 in april of 2009.. and I've used it exclusively for 6 years... 1 battery kaputzed.. several handle bars cracked (and were replaced free of charge under warranty).. I now have two batteries which are working great.. just like the neuton! Yes.. after 6 cutting seasons both the back wheels are shot.. but I jammed a bolt into the handle locking mechanism at the bottom.. and the last handle set is still fine after two years.. I have beat the poop out of this unit.. and it runs and runs and runs.. anyone remember those timex* commercials from back in the day? this thing refuses to die! I bought a new C6 neuton a few years back simply to get another battery.. and that mower has been sitting in my garage unused for two years now.. because this old beat up one just can't be killed.. I cut my 1/2 acre lawn at least twice a week and throw the clippings .. it still bites through the rough stuff like a tiger eating meat.. I guess once the wheels fall off this one.. I may eventually break out that new mower.. but hey.. I'm going for a world's record in durability.. and yes.. I just bought a DR battery powered string trimmer .. and I expect that to kick grass too! (the other crazy thing is.. this old dawg CE6 was a refurb model.. and it made absolutely no difference.. it was just less $$$ ) What more can one ask for?

This is an excellent mower. Although the battery is heavier than I expected, it is not a really big deal. Only problem is I wrecked the mower the second time I used it by hitting a brick that was working its way up through the soil. I have to replace the blade and the motor. Not something I really relish doing, but there seem to be no authorized repair shops for Neuton in the Louisville area. It would be great if Neuton could specify some authorized repair facilities in this area.

First Electric Mower, Very Satisfied
Posted by: Aubrey S. from Saint Charles, MO on 08/03/2014
Rating:
This is the first electric mower that I have owned and am very happy with the purchase. Arrival was fast and set up was simple. Have a fairly large mowing area that includes a steep hill. Easy to push and maneuver most of the weight in the mower is due to the battery. First use was a tall order to test on the Neuton mower, performed above expectations. Grass had gotten quite tall due to my old self propelled craftsman gas mower dying. Used the grass clipping bag and had a respectable lawn again. Definitely considering a second battery because I mow other lawns occasionally and this would allow me to do it in one day. Hope to use this mower for a long time and would highly recommend it. It is significantly quieter, less hassle and maintenance. The design is simple and intuitive to use. One feature that I would possibly suggest on future models would be regarding the "trigger handles" that you hold down to activate the blades,it would be nice to have a rubber grip on them to provide more traction and potential additional durability. I may notice this more due to having a steep hill, someone with a flat yard would probably not even notice the need for a grip. Glad to have made the switch and the cut is wonderful, can still get those beautiful lines. Really enjoy having one place to adjust the height and not have to pull my arm out of socket to get it started.I also feel better getting an American made product that is not dependent on gasoline or oil. Keep up the good work Done Right!

CE6 was larger and heavier than I expected, especially the battery. It has been a wet summer here and trying to keep up with the mowing has been frustrating because this mower does not operate well with even the slightest bit of moisture in the grass. the grass keeps getting packed in the cavity under the blade. I have to stop to clean out the bottom and empty the bag every few swipes. The way to make it work at all is to mow only dry grass on the highest setting, empty the bag when it is only half full and be sure the blade is tightly attached after each mowing.... a lot of steps for a simple mowing job. I enjoy having a green product, no gas, no fumes but it is taking 2x as long to get the lawn mowed because of all the pit stops, the waits for perfectly dry grass and the need for more frequent mowing due to having to use the highest setting. I think this would be a good match for a taller, stronger person living in a dry climate.
Response from Neuton SupportThank you for taking the time to post a review. We apologize for the inconvenience you have encountered. The "extra" moisture can cause the grass to build up and make for a more difficult mowing experience!

If your grass is too dense that the mower won’t cut on any of the lower settings, you could try mowing again the next day at the lower setting and from that point on you should be able to keep it at the desired height?

Thanks again for leaving a review. We will pass your comments to our Product Development department for review.

This is my second Neuton mower. This first one was still working, I just moved to a larger house and yard. I'm still impressed with the design and aesthetics. I did look at other makes but I found that their engineering was more appropriate to toy trucks than to working equipment. There are metal fittings when they need to be and plastic for weight control. I must say that I'm a little concerned about the "dead man" levers on the handle. They seem a little thin but they haven't failed yet. I like the lead/acid battery. Sure it is old technology, but it is a proven one. Oh, and it cuts the grass.

NOT ENOUGH POWER
Posted by: ROBERT J. from MCGREGOR, IA on 07/06/2014

THE MOWER IS FINE FOR LIGHT DUTY MOWING BUT NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FOR GENERAL LAWN HEIGHT MAINTENANCE. ALSO THE BATTERY DOES NOT HOLD A CHARGE FOR VERY LONG AND IF I HADN'T PURCHASED AN EXTRA BATTERY I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FINISH MY LAWN WHICH IS FAR LESS THAN THE 1/3 ACRE THAT IS ADVERTISED THAT THE MOWER IS SUPPOSED TO HANDLE
Response from Neuton SupportWe're sorry the 6.4 Neuton Mower isn't working like you expected. It can take up to 5 charging cycles for the Battery to reach its full potential. You should be getting 45-60 minutes of runtime on a full charge. If you are not, please check the charger voltage output. It should read 40-45 volts DC. We will get in touch with you to see how it’s going.

Neuton can't keep its wheels on
Posted by: JL G. from Westborough, MA on 05/30/2014
Rating:
In an effort to stay green at home I bought a Neuton battery powered lawnmower, model CE 6.3. It worked ok for 4 or 5 years (actually I found the mulching performance pretty mediocre), but then one day the rear right wheel just popped off of the axle. When I called Neuton for advice they said I should order a replacement wheel kit, so I dutifully did and received it yesterday. The kit consisted of the new wheel, two washers, a round axle clip, and a pin. I had to call for instructions, as I wasn't sure of the purpose of the pin. So the instructions are: place one washer on axle, then the wheel, then 2nd washer, then tap on a round axle clip using a 3/4" socket and a hammer. Then I'm supposed to see if I can pull off the wheel before using it. Well, I pulled off the wheel. After repeatedly trying the instructed procedure I called Neuton / DRPower's customer service. Their best advice was to somehow drill a hole in the axle and insert the metal clip, or have a shop do it. Rather than do that, I tried two thinner washers from ACE hardware and banged the axle clip on. This time the wheel seemed to stay on. I took out the mower in the yard, and less than 5 minutes later the new wheel popped off. So, a machine that retails for $400 can't keep its wheels on and I'm told to have a hole drilled in the axle. And the axle is barely long enough for the components to stay on as designed, leaving almost no margin for a hole to be drilled. My personal feeling is that if you can't design a lawnmower to keep its wheels on due to a cheap and poor design (but for an expensive, overpriced machine), then you shouldn't be selling lawnmowers.
Response from Neuton SupportWe’re sorry that you are experiencing a problem with your Neuton Wheel Kit. We appreciate you taking the time to post a review about it. Please contact us to discuss options for this issue.

I have owned the CE6 mower since 2011 and must say I am not impressed with the cut it provides and the life of the battery. With all the new advances in battery technology today , Neuton still chooses to use Lead acid batteries. This is because SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries are the cheapest to produce when weight is not an issue. This is why they are commonly found in wheelchairs and computer UPS backup systems. On the positive side of things... You don't have to change oil or make several trips to the gas station every year. Either way you are saving money in time it would have taken you to do these things. In closing, I wish Neuton would offer the battery at a $75-$95 price point. But to be fair to them I would give them 3 out of 5 stars because it is a time saver when considering time, travel, and maintenance that a traditional gas powered mower would require. So, if you plan to buy one of these mowers to save $$ on gas, then expect to spend $$ annually on a new battery instead and make sure you recycle those old batteries.
Response from Neuton SupportThanks for posting a review, we appreciate it! We like to hear feedback both good and bad. Lithium batteries would be great to have, but would almost double the cost of the mower. We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and yet still keep them affordable.

Too heavy, doesn't mulch; buy a CE5 instead
Posted by: Longtimecustomer from Maryland on 08/04/2013

I have had a Neuton CE5 mower for many years (probably 15) and just LOVE it. Over the years I have purchased a battery or two, but it is still going strong. However, we recently purchased a property with a somewhat larger lot and faced with mowing two lawns I decided to get a second mower. I opted for the CE6 because of its wider path. It is totally unsatisfactory. It almost too heavy to push. I like to keep my environmental footprint small and prefer to leave my clippings on the lawn. However, even in dry weather the mulcher doesn?t work and the grass wads up under the mower. Approximately four or five times during cutting, the mower needs to be turned over to scrape out the wadded clippings (I carry a paint scraper with me for this function). On the CE5 I am able to use the height adjuster as a handle to look under (which rarely is necessary), but the CE6 has no convenient way to turn it over. When it arrived, it said there was a side discharge chute available (AT AN EXTRA CHARGE!!!) but I have been unable to find it online. That is what I always use on the CE5. Considering the cost of everything I paid, an extra charge to actually make this mower functional is reprehensible, even if it were available. I have waited several months to write this review to give the mower a fair chance. On the plus side it was easy to assemble and starts easily. Everything is good until it has to cut grass. I am back to using the old mower. If you want a lightweight mower, buy the CE5. If you need anything more, get a self-propelled gas mower at your local hardware store.
Response from Neuton SupportThank you for posting a review to our website. We are sorry to learn you are not fully satisfied with the purchase of your CE 6 Neuton Mower. You can use a product like Armor All or even Pam to help keep the grass from sticking to the underside of the deck. The Part # for the optional Discharge Chute is 24319. It isn’t on the website but can be ordered by calling in. We’re glad that you do like your CE5 model!

I can not say enough good things about this mower. I am a 79 year old female and I find the mower easy and light to mow the lawn. Clean up is fast. We love everything about these mowers and the Company was great to deal with and every they say is true about the mowers. I would recommend either of the mowers and I will not hesitate to buy one again if this ever wears out If you can walk you can mow with these mowers. R Hudon

The Neuton CE6.4 Mower is the easiest, most ergonomic, and most efficient mower I have ever used. It's sleek, light weight design makes it a real pleasure and ease to maneuver around corners and plants in my lawn. The removeable 23 pound battery is very versatile and innovative. I like the fact that I can store it inside my house and recharge it when needed, without any fuss - just lift it out and plug it in. What could be easier! This product should be recognized with some kind of innovation award. I am very pleased with my new mower and look forward to many, many years of use.

Very happy camper

Could not be happier with my new Neuton mower. I have a large yard that requires two batteries to get the job done, but beats having a gas can in the garage and remembering to mix the oil with the gas, or having to remember to get the gas. Love that the Neuton is quieter and easy to clean up after mowing. It looks like a toy but works hard. I've mowed a wet lawn and the grass catcher worked like a champ. Really am a happy camper. I've removed every lawn I've ever owned, and since that's not an option with my current home, I can at least love my lawn mower.

Doesn't get the job done!

After two years of use, I continue to find this particular mower falling short in performance. It will not pick up its clipping. Yes, I do use the bagger and have removed the mulch plug. The mower doesn't have enough vacuum to lift clippings. I am required to mow more often and twice each time to have a clean lawn. It failed to operate on one occasion which required a minor repair by myself. Unacceptable for such an expensive device. Return fees are prohibitive.
Response from Neuton SupportThanks for leaving a review about your Neuton Mower. We are sorry that it isn’t picking up the clippings like you think it should. It’s possible the battery isn’t getting fully charged? Please test your charger voltage output. It should read 40-45 volts DC if working properly. Then check the battery voltage after charging to make sure it is accepting the full charge. You should let it “rest” for about an hour after unplugging the charger to get an accurate reading. It should read 36 volts DC +. Also check the blade, it may need sharpening? Either one of these can cause the pickup to be less than optimal.

This is my 3rd CE6 Neuton power mower
Posted by: Rhonda from North Carolina on 07/25/2013

At the end of last summer I felt that I needed a new mower and was devastated to find that none were available. I ordered parts, took a deep breath, and -much to my amazement- repaired my CE6 and kept going until my mower "died" last month. I am really enjoying my new CE6 (this is my 3rd since about 2007). I do not worry about voiding the warranty and really put my mower to the test. It has performed magnificently even under challenging cuts (St Augustine grass and extremely rainy summer). After being diagnosed with an eye condition ten years ago, I bought an electric mower; I liked the concept but found connection to an electric cord a huge negative. When I saw the Neuton mower, I decided that I had to have one. Ordering my Neuton CE6 was one of the best purchases ever. I have 3 batteries for maintaining my rather large yard.

Excellent alternative to motorless, push reel mower... which I've been using on hilly terrain for...
Posted by: Spot from Maine on 07/16/2013

It's simple. And it works. The rotary blades cut far better than the reel I have been using. Though lighter than comparable cordless mowers, it's still a workout uphill; but both physically and environmentally: I feel better afterward. Again, my landscape is tough, and while the handle seems well made - it's too soon to tell how it will hold up (I broke three handle assemblies on my push mower). I hate my lawn, I loath mowing; I love the mower. Last word: the people I dealt with on the phone were superlative... Neuton has a great business model.

The mower arrived mostly assembled. It was very easy to put the handlebar together. The instructions were easy to follow. After charging the battery, I engaged the mower and was pleasantly surprised at how powerful the mower was. It was wonderful not smelling like exhaust or gasoline. The mower worked beautifully. My only "complaint" is that the rear bagger is not easily removed and takes some maneuvering to take it off after it is filled. I wonder if this will become easier over time.

The Neuton is fabulous!

I had purchased Neuton 5 battery powered mower several years ago for my small yard and simply loved this product. I moved into a new home with a large 1 1/2 acre lot. It would take me 4 days to mow my yard with the smaller Neuton 5 mower (13"). I then purchased the Neuton CE6 (19") battery powered mower and now it only takes me 2 to 2 1/2 days to mow. It cuts and cuts and cuts...size does matter! And, with the larger battery, I get a lot of coverage mowed. This Neuton CE6 is a little heavier than the Neuton 5 but is still light enough to push around the small hills I have at my house. And, I can mow earlier in the morning because it is so very quiet. Even though all the lawn services stop to give me their card and the new neighbors think I have lost my mind because I cut my own grass; with a push mower, non the less, I would (and have) recommend this product to anyone that listens. Thanks, PattyK

I am 72 years old and simply can not work a gas powered mower. We live on a ranch and my husband mows most of the area with a tractor. I need a mower to keep the area around the house clean. We have small grandchildren who visit weekly. Rattlesnakes are a problem here. I ordered the mower so I could keep the grass and weeds low in order to spot snakes and eliminate some of the bugs. The CE6.4 Neuton is the best tool I have ever purchased. What a joy to just push a button and you are ready to mow. No endless pulling of cords or figuring out gas and oil mixtures. It is light enough that even I can handle it with ease, but is tough enough to cut the tall weeds that grow in small hard to get areas. Mowing the area now is like taking a walk. Thanks for such a practical and well made product.

No more spark plugs, gas, oil, or noise!

Just to be rid of all of the burdens of combustion engines (gas, oil, tune ups, spark plugs) is enough to make me in awe of this machine. All I have to do is charge the battery overnight, pop it in place, and mow. This machine does my whole lawn without any problem. I bought the smaller mower and was only able to do half of my lawn at a time. I actually liked that one too because it only let me stay out for 45 minutes at a time. Enough for this 65 year old. I have loaned my smaller Neuton to anyone who wants to give it a try and be done with gas and spark plugs and loud noises. Battery technology is improving quickly and will soon be the way out of archaic fossil fuel machinery I hope. This is a great way to see how much freedom these batteries will give us soon.

I am a single parent approaching retirement age and I do not get along with 2 stroke engines. The mower is plug and play. I bought another CE6 5 years ago and the only reason I bought another one this year was I waited so long to change the blade that my lawn was getting too high. When I went to change the blade, I found I didnt' have the strength to get it off the mower and my neighbor was on vacation. So I ordered another CE6.4 and started using it right away. Now I have TWO mowers and my daughter can help me with the lawn at the same time. We both love how quiet and efficiently they run. And they clean up quickly with a garden hose. I can't wait until there is a Neuton Riding Mower!

Fourth, The decal letters on both sides of the mower are falling off. As you can tell, this is my second mower. My first one is still being used. I do still like the performance and I think that this new model is quieter than the older one.

An easy to use mower with a lot of potential
Posted by: NeutonMowerOwner from Illinois on 07/01/2013

I really like the Neuton mower. It cuts grass well and the battery life is fantastic. The only recommendation I would make is for product engineers is to develop an lightweight brush or rake to attach to the front to unsure a first-time cut of slightly damp, thick grass that gets depressed when the mower's wheels flattens it down. My previous gas mower seemed to have enough suction to draw this grass up to be cut by the blades but, despite ample overlap, my new Neuton mower requires a second pass - a plus of the long battery life. If I cut the grass a couple times a week I experience less of this problem. If it was not for this problem I would give my Neuton mower all excellents.

Great alternative to a gasoline mower
Posted by: Rooster50 from Maryland on 06/28/2013

With gasoline prices being unpredictable and gas mowers requiring annual routine and immediate maintenance and repairs, Neuton's battery powered mowers are a fine alternative. They are relatively light weight, powerful, dependable and cheap to operate. They are comparable in price to gasoline powered mowers. For a moderately sized yard of one acre or less they can handle mowing efficiently. They come with a wide range of accessories which are easy to attach and use. The overall savings in gasoline, yearly plug and filter replacements and other maintenance make this mower an excellent value.

This machine is Wonderful. I am an older person (64 - woman ) and this machine was easy to assemble and use. The heaviest part is the battery. I first used this machine on really tall Bermuda grass about 2 feet tall and damp. Though, I won't recommend using the machine in this way, but it worked - difficult cutting, but it worked. Had to clean the blade periodically while cutting because the tall strands of grass would rap around it. But, nothing broke or bent and it continues to cut my grass much better up to 1' now. It is so nice to have my mower always ready to go. No trip to the gas station to drag home a can of smelly gasoline in my car. No need to mix oil into the gas spilling the foul mixture on the garage floor. No exhausting pulling on a cord to get the motor running. One push of the button and were off. Beautiful. Don't know why every one doesn't have a Nutron.

The mower is light easy to maneuver, cuts great; the battery just does not live up to the published specifications. The 6" cutting ability I think would be a far reach. Normal use is by far the norm.
Response from Neuton SupportWe’re sorry that the Neuton Mower hasn’t lived up to your expectations. We appreciate you leaving a review though! We’re not sure where the 6” reference comes from? The battery should be lasting 45-60 minutes on a full charge. As the battery ages, the time will decrease. 3-5 years is the average life expectancy for the battery.

The mower I purchasedI three years ago- suddenly turned the motor on when I put the key in, (perhaps because I tried to mow a neglected backyard-full of two foot high grass)- and as the new one was not much more costly than using the old in its unique condition (It has a good battery)--I purchased the new version---However, I am now older, have charged the new battery and must read directions printed on the mailing box before I tear it apart to get the new mower out. Do you have many 80-year old widows who prefer to mow their own suburban lawn? It seems to be just what I ordered. Thank you. Now- if only you have a SMALL machine that will mow my "hay" - ie one that I can push around. The weed wakers are just for edging, and not for tall woody weeds, and the riding one you show are just too large for me. I have been satisfied with all I have received from you over the years, and will continue to look at your catalogs for new products.

A perfect solution for mowing medium-sized lawns
Posted by: CTDon from Connecticut on 06/22/2013

I purchased a Neuton mower with a 14-inch blade in 2003. It has performed well for 10 years. Two years ago we moved to a new home with a larger lawn and I noticed I needed a second battery to mow the whole lawn in one session. This year I decided to buy a cordless mower with a larger cutting blade and chose the Neuton CE6. I am very pleased with it. Despite its size and weight, it is surprisingly easy to maneuver, and the 36-volt battery provides more than enough power to cut my whole lawn in one session. The biggest bonus is I can mow my lawn in a little more than half the time it took with the smaller Neuton mower. My only concern is the new mower is noticeably louder than the old one. It's still quieter than a gas-powered mower -- and a lot cleaner.

Was looking for a light weight mower that my wife could operate with ease. She wants to take over the lawn care without the hassle of gas, oil and pull starting a combustion engine. This was accomplished with the Neuton mower, however ... The unit is much heavier than we expected, making it difficult to push, especially on the sloped areas. The grass catcher is very difficult to remove when full (even for me). And the battery does not last long enough to finish the yard without a recharge. Having spend $400 already I'm not likely to spend more on a spare battery when I am unhappy with the mower in the first place.
Response from Neuton SupportThanks for leaving a review about your Neuton Mower. We are sorry to hear you are not fully satisfied with the purchase of it. The mower weight comes in just under 70lbs with the battery in place & on a slope may seem heavy. The bagger should easily come off and go back onto the bar easily. Is it the weight that makes it difficult? The battery should be lasting 45-60 minutes on a full charge. Make sure you are fully charging it after each use.

Overall I love the mower. When it arrived I was able to put it together myself with no help from a male. I charged the battery as it stated but had no luck getting it started after putting it back in the mower. I loaded it up into my car and took it to the local lawnmower dealer, who had originally recommended this product and he determined that I hadn't placed the battery deep enough back into the spot it was intended to sit. I also had taken the battery out of the mower to charge it, which is totally unnecessary. It started like a charm the next time I tried it and I love it. It's a relief that I don't have to pull repeatedly on a cord to get it started and there's no gas, oil, or spark plugs to worry about. It runs much quieter than a traditional lawn mower. The only negative thing I have to say is that it isn't as light as I had anticipated. I have a bank at the back of my lot and was hoping it would be a lot easier to mow but it's basically the same. Overall I love it and wouldn't go back to a traditional lawn mower.

The CE6 is a much more powerful machine than I imagined. It mows the lawn that has been unmowed for years! The yard is turning back in to a lawn. Battery charging is much easier and less messy than refilling with gas and a charge lasts about as long as a tank of gas, I think. I bought an extra battery which was a smart move as I keep mowing a larger and larger space each time I mow. Easy to adjust height of cut so I can vary the height depending on conditions at the time. Thanks, it's a great machine. I am very happy with it.

After Sandy ruined my first Neuton mower, I reordered the second one online. Neighbors comment how quiet it is. I like it's ease of use, without gas and oil. From an industrial design perspective, I liked my 2010-11 mower handle design better than the current one. I thought the prior design was sleeker, handsomer. New handle and cord is rather clunky, in my opinion, and it doesn't collapse.

The only stumbling block for me was getting the machine out of the box it came in. The charger that turns off when the battery is fully charged is perfect for us older folks (77 years) who forget their own name from time to time. No worry about over charging the battery. After getting the machine out of the box and assembled, I sprayed the underside with a food release product to keep the mower deck free of grass build up and took on a lawn that had not been mowed for a long time. It went right through ten inch tall grass with ease. Although I did it slowly as I am a stroke survivor with minimal use of both my left side arm and leg. Because of this disability I really like the light weight and maneuverability of the machine. A great Product!

Hoping it improves as they promise, although my son who does the mowing doesn't mind. It takes a good 15 hours for the battery to charge so we have basically been mowing some part of the yard each day or two. We have used it to mow the yard completely four times. We have to mow on highest setting (better for the grass anyway) or the battery completely gives out before even half the yard is done.

This is the second neuton lawnmower that I've owned. The first one lasted eight years, was just worn out at the end. I thought that the batteries from the old lawnmower were dying but they work wonderful in the new lawnmower. I can cut almost my entire three-quarter acre yard with one of my old batteries now. This mower seems to push more easily than the old one.

Battery disappoints, but easy start & quiet operation make up for it.

I really love the fume-free, quiet operation of this mower. And the easy start without yanking on a cord is great. I wish there was some self-propulsion on it, but not if that added extra weight. Couldn't get 1/4 acre done on one charge - am hoping for better battery performance. Really love this machine though.

Ce6 Neuton

More powerful and easier to use than the CE5 version. The battery actually lasted through almost 3 yard cuts unlike the CE5 which had to be charged afer each cut. Unfortunately it does not have the trimmer/edger which is a real downer. I used my CE5 trimmer/edger all the time and it was better than getting out a handheld trimmer/edger.

I love Neuton battery-powered mowers!

This is my second Neuton battery-powered mower. I had the smaller model for 10 years and, when it finally died, I bought the larger one. While the larger one is noticeably heavier, even to push, and much louder, it is easy to use and does a great job faster than the smaller one I had before. I bought this second Neuton battery-powered mower because the first one performed so well and so reliably. People always stop to inquire about my Neuton battery-powered mowers when I'm mowing the front yard. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

We've been very impressed with our Neuton Mower. When the batter charger didn't work, the company just sent us out a new one. Great customer service. Once the mower was charged, it MORE than covered the half-acre we needed it to. It goes far even just on one charge.

The Neuton CE6 mower is easy to operate.

This is our second Neuton mower. My husband and I use both the small and large mower. The CE6 mower is a nice time saver with the longer blade. I like the feature showing remaining battery life on the mower and the light on the charger to let us know when the battery is fully charged. These mowers are really easy to use and green friendly.

We have had a neutron mower for 7 years. when it stopped working, we immediately got another. The wider cutting path makes the job go faster. Battery life is excellent.. It is so light that my wife has no difficulty in using it on hills. Go gas or oil and not pulling and pulling to start. Just put the battery in and go.

had the c5 loved it, changed locations with larger area to mow , before you came out with the 19" mower had another brand you had to keep plugged into the wall so the mower had to be parked by an outlet, was also heavier and the charge didn't last as long great product the neighbors don't even notice I'm cutting the lawn

Very pleased with my CE6.4 mower

I'm quite pleased with my Neuton mower. The unit has plenty of power to finish the lawn even when the grass is higher than normal. I can choose to bag the clippings or mulch them. Best of all, I don't have to fuss with a finicky gasoline engine or an electric cord. Well done!

The height adjustment is not easy to work when new, a bit worried about how it may change as the mower ages. Battery charging instructions are probably accurate, but could be clearer -- between the indications on the charger and the battery, I didn;'t get the first charge right. Maybe I should have, but no,

Second Neuton Owned
Posted by: Hambone from South Carolina on 06/19/2013

I just purchased my second Neuton Mower. I have owned my original since 2001. My son purchased a competitors brand from a Big Box Retailer, it worked one season, DOA the next season. The price is competitive with the Big Box stores, but I knew what I was getting! The CE6 has a much wider cutting swipe that my old model. I can cut my yard much faster now and still have power left in the battery. The heat in Columbia, SC makes you happy you have a wider cut and no muffler heat to add to your misery. If this one lasts as long as my old one, I may be too old to cut my grass.

Great Product for Small Yard

Decided to go with the Neuton to eliminate the need for getting gasoline and to reduce the noise factor. The mower does a great job and is much lighter than a gas powered mower. The battery lasts about an hour which if I keep up with the mowing does my half acre lawn. Bonus - my 12 year old son is able to use it with ease. Totally recommend!

This is our second Neuton. The first one was the 5.1, and it still works after years, but we got the larger one as we moved and have a larger yard. The new one has more features like the dial that shows the battery life, but 1 thing it does not have is the cup holder. I miss that! The other problem is the bagger. It drags. I used a bungie cord to hold it up, as it drags on the ground and makes it harder to push. Also, it is harder to raise and lower the blades on this one, but I think it may get easier over time. The most important thing about the Neuton, is you get it out of the garage, put the battery in, push a button, and it goes - every time! No pulling a cord a millon times, then asking the neighbor if they can start your mower. Then getting the mower started, and discovering you don't have enough gas. I run and get gas, and spill it! None of that!! Before we got this one, we tried two other battery mowers, and they did not last a week! One even cost more than this one, but I love our Neuton and I will never try another brand again. NEVER!

I have used the Neuton mower exclusively over the past 7 years recently replacing / upgrading from my previous Neuton. I live in a forrested area where a gas mower would be disruptive to the peace. I am absolutally sold on this cordless electric mower! It is easy to use, easily handles my 1/3 of an acre, is very quiet and does a great job. I will never go back to a gas mower or corded electric again - both of whiich I have previously owned. I have mostly St Augustine grass which is a very tough vine like grass developing thick matt base. Great for hardiness but awfull if you have to push a large heavy gasoline unit around without being self propelled or a riding version. With the Neuton's light weight and heavyweight power, mowing my dense lawn is a breeze even without the advantage of being self propelled. I would highly recommend this unit and indeed I have allready done so many times.

I have had the Neuton CE6 mower for 5 years now. Its very easy to use and quiet compared to a gas mower. I love that I don't have to worry about buying gas for it. All my neighbors are impressed as soon as they see the mower. It works great. In the five years I have owned it, I have replaced the battery and the cutting blades once. It's a great alternative for a gas mower and very easy to use. The battery lasts long enough to mow both front and back yard. Love It....

Q.Is the mower self-propelled?
A.Our Neuton mowers are not self-propelled units. However, being that they are light weight, they are a very easy machine to maneuver. They are a great alternative to gas powered machines. Thank you for your interest. fc

Q.I had formerly requested information on the possible replacement of the motor for my CE6 mower. The only response I received instructed me to check the battery. I took it to an auto parts store and had them check the voltage and the test meter shows a full charge. So that rules out the battery being the source of the problem which is that the motor runs at only 1/3 power. I disassembled it to remove twine wrapped around the main spindle and cleaned it thoroughly. The "power on" switch indicates that the switch is operating properly and the blade does turn, but only about at 1/3 power. the minute it touches grass, it stops. Can I get a replacement motor and how much do they cost?
A.You can order a replacement motor for the Neuton Mower. The part # for the 36 volt motor is 23858. As for the battery reading, it could read 36+ for voltage but that doesn't mean it's good. A load test should be done on any battery to determine it's true strength (watts).
