Neuton® Mower in the News
Break out the red carpet. It's awards season! And the Neuton CE 6 just snagged the 2009 Editors' Choice Award from Organic Gardening.
Here's what they had to say about the Neuton Mower:
"Of the three battery-operated mowers we tested, the Neuton CE 6 battery-powered mower cut more consistently than the others. It chopped down thick, at times damp, grass with steady power. With its mulching plug (included) in place, the mower left fine clippings on the lawn that decomposed in a few days. Its 19-inch cutting width is just slightly narrower than the typical gas-powered mower. The Neuton's 36-volt battery takes eight hours to charge and provides power for about an hour.
A few minor but valuable features also distinguish the Neuton from the competition. An easy-to-read gauge lets you know when the battery's charge is waning. You can remove the battery from the mower when you need to recharge it--a handy option for those who don't have a power source where they store their mower. It was the only model we tested that let you keep a spare battery (sold separately), which can double the length of time you have to cut the lawn. And you can raise the cutting height to a healthy 3 inches tall with the shift of a single lever. For that reason alone, we recommend this mower to any organic gardener caring for a lawn that's one-third of an acre or less."
Blogger Mark Healey raves about the Neuton CE 5.
Here are some of his highlights:
"Usually reviews are supposed to include pros and cons, but I can flatly state this mower has none of the latter....
The battery life, which I was originally concerned about, turned out to be more than sufficient. In fact, we found we could do two mowings on a single charge....
In my eyes, the Neuton has already paid for itself in just one summer."
Green Daily is a great site for news, tips and commentary on going green. Here's what Kelly Leahy, one of the site's regular writers, has to say about her Neuton:
"...you are undoubtedly aware with my love affair with a lawn mower. I love my Neuton Battery-Powered Lawn Mower. My husband loves it just as much because I no longer nag him to cut the grass."
"We're not sure which is better - the Neuton's function or its form. "
Grit.com - "The CE 6 was pure joy to operate."
"The things I really liked about this mowing experience center on the Neuton’s electric power system, its low-noise, no-fume characteristics, and the fact that it has one of the nicest safety interlock systems of any power mower I have ever used. Gone are the lever and bail type safety clutch controls. In their place is an ergonomically perfect switch that’s been integrally designed into the handle. Wow. What a treat."
Here's what they
had to say:
"It's extremely quiet compared to the more traditional lawn mowers--we were able to listen to our iPod while working, which is something even our Dyson drowns out."
“Mowing the lawn is like a stroll in the park when you’re pushing the new Neuton Cordless Electric Mower. …it’s so quiet you can still hear the birds go tweet-tweet while your grass gets a nice clean cut.”
“I can’t believe how quiet this mower is. You could mow at 6 a.m. and not wake the neighbors! I was also surprised at how light it is…plus it’s easy to store.”
“[The Neuton] is fun to use, lightweight, portable, rugged, quiet, and versatile. The only mower to offer an optional trimming and edging attachment, the Neuton runs for an hour or so on a single charge, and it’s easy on the environment. (Factoid from Green Seal Environmental Partners: Operating a gas-powered lawnmower for one hour produces hydrocarbon emissions equivalent to a 1992 SUV driving 23,600 miles!)”
“As homeowners rev their lawnmower engines this spring, nature cringes. A well-groomed carpet of grass may be nice to look at, but popular gas-powered mowers pollute the air with noxious fumes and plenty of noise. But now there’s the Neuton from Country Home Products, a battery-powered mower that’s lightweight, relatively quiet and starts with the push of a button.”
“Cordless electric lawn mowers such as the Neuton provide a clean, nearly maintenance-free alternative to gasoline-powered models. On average, an electric mower costs $5 a year to operate (compared with about $70 a year for a gas-powered mower). And its motor generates virtually no carbon monoxide or hydrocarbons, both of which are major sources of pollution created by traditional mowers.”
“Compared to its gas powered brethren, the NEUTON™ releases half the noise and a bare scintilla of pollutants.”
“Try gear like this to help you pull off projects better, faster and painlessly, says Travis Larson, editor of Reader’s Digest’s The Family Handyman: The Neuton cordless electric mower is half as loud as a gas mower. It has no finicky engine to start…”
“After you finish mowing, plug the Neuton’s trimmer-edger attachment into the front, push a button and you have a fully functional trimmer-edger.”
